When i first listened to “Codex” on the new Radiohead album “The King of Limbs”
i thought it had a very cinematic character and because of the slow tempo of the song
it’s dreamy concept and the lyrics somehow reminded me of the last sequence from
the film “Stalker” (1979) a masterpiece of the Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky.
I thought that the song would fit nice with the sequence as a mashup.
I was amazed that there was no need for editing. The song fitted perfectly from the
first cut of the sequence to fade out from the first piano chord to the last. I also noticed
that the reactions and expressions of the child actor are synching with all the parts
of the song.
This is not another conspiracy theory about Radiohead but two pieces of different arts
from different decades that give a wonderful result and complement each other
in a seamless combination.
